Bury Football Club
Not a fan, obviously, but they are in a shocking state. Club could be closed by tomorrow.

Even though from Yorkshire, this is a good précis.

https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/sport-opinion/comment-bury-fc-why-their-sad-plight-should-matter-to-every-self-respecting-football-fan-1-9945971

Bury, albeit long ago, won the FA Cup twice. Same tally as us. First club to score 1000 goals in all divisions.

If every Prem player donated 0.5% of their outrageous wages, Bury FC would likely survive.

They'll need a new Chairman: he's already refused buyout deals. He's clearly a cnt.

Don't need to reiterate, but: MODERN FOOTBALL IS RUBBISH.

I don't expect much response to this!

We've won it three times

How can you think we've only won the FA Cup twice?

You probably think our all time record goalscorer is Victor Mature

Vic Reeves, isn't it?

Apologies, fucked up there!

I wasn't born in 1964. Sorries

Re: Bury Football Club
The EFL don't care, the PFA aren't stepping in to help the players out. Even if it's a case of making sure players and staff wages are covered by the EFL so the club can run, and then sort out ownership and repayments.
Looks like Bolton could be going the same way. Goodness knows what state they would be in if our board was in control there...

Good, heartfelt article, that. Thanks for posting!

I feel ashamed, now.

Truly sorry,
haha

Anyway, I I hope something can be sorted to solve Bury FC. Otherwise, they're buried.

That's all.

Re: Bury Football Club
paying players £9k a week last season in league 2 on gates averaging 4k

wonder why their fans weren’t asking questions as they were cheating their way to promotion last season?

Sven Roeder 11:02 Thu Aug 22
Re: Bury Football Club
I hope they survive but every club has to cut their cloth to suit their resources.
If the EFL stepped in and paid out then another 40 clubs would have their hand out.
That said the EFL and FA (& Premier league) need to take more interest in who owns football clubs and require that they aren’t crooks and conmen. Or mass murdering criminal oligarchs

Personally I think it’s ludicrous that League One players and below are full time professionals.

A West Ham fan not even knowing how many times we've won the cup?

That's fucking embarrassing.

Re: Bury Football Club
Imagine the trouble he'll have counting the goals Bury have scored in Cup Finals (10).

Best stick to the number they conceded (0).

Re: Bury Football Club
Calm down, Niblets.

I apologised. Just got it wrong. (When has that ever happened on WHO before? Duh.)

Agree with Sven, in that clubs need to cut their cloth etc... If Paulon is correct, saying Bury are paying some players £9k a week, that is madness. At their level.

Anyway, clock is ticking. Only thought it was an interesting football discussion (possibly) outside of the Prem League. One of the oldest football clubs in England, looks doomed. Seems a shame. To me. Bad governance.

Don't imagine there's much else going on in Bury. Town "invented" Black Pudding! But I am not a fan of that.

If Mr Patel's Mini Mart went skint nobody would expect Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons to bail him out would they?

Re: Bury Football Club
I understand that sur le continent, black pudding is regarded as one of the highlights of British cuisine. It wins prizes and stuff.

Re: Bury Football Club
Sadly, the modern footballing world only cares about clubs who are big NOW.

Were big? Might be big? Could be big? FUCK OFF! And don't come again begging for OUR money.

The two best places for Black Pudding are Bury in Lancashire and Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk

Not a lot of people know that

Re: Bury Football Club
£9k per week that's ridiculous if true!

I do think there's a problem about sharing the money about, needs to be more for the lower divisions but I can't see the premier league doing much about it.

Re: Bury Football Club
No love for bury and Bolton, but I hate clubs struggling like this regardless of who they are.

Imagine following a club for 30 years and seeing them disappear.

That's then it, all over, fucked, as it's not in anyone's DNA to then be able to follow anyone else.

I'll always love west ham, but I couldn't really give a shit about modern football and only do all the away games to help mates out (people have dropped out like flies for good due to hating the game now) and as I like drinking. Rarely watch all of the games.
